Interscholastic Sports a Strong Suit
at St. Isaac Jogues School

Students participate starting in the 5th grade

Hinsdale, Ill. – September 26, 2008 – St. Isaac Jogues
School (SIJ) has a long and strong tradition in boys and girls
interscholastic sports. As a member of the Suburban
Parochial League West of seven local Catholic elementary
schools, St. Isaac’s offers students the opportunity
to participate in competitive school team sports,
beginning in the 5th grade. SIJ has teams in:
boys’ and girls’ basketball, cross-country and track
and field; girls’ volleyball; and boys’ football.

“In the 5th grade, the sports programs are
developmental, focused on teaching the fundamentals.
In 6th through 8th, we participate in two leagues: the
‘A’ league is a highly competitive program; the ‘B’ league
is less competitive but ensures more playing time,” said
Mrs. Dee Olewinski, athletic director. “SIJ has a no-cut
policy; every student who wants to play makes a team.”

“Our athletic program is a key element in
the students’ overall development,” said Mr. Rick Cronquist,
SIJ principal. “School spirit is particularly high during a
season like the one our undefeated varsity football team
is having. Homecoming this year is planned for October 5
and it’s always great fun for the entire student body.”

Founded in 1932, St. Isaac Jogues is a Catholic
institution serving kindergarten through 8th grade.
With a total of 585 students, St. Isaac’s provides an
intellectually stimulating yet nurturing and faith-based
environment that encourages children to develop and
grow into responsible, caring and productive members
of the community. Recent test scores show St. Isaac’s
students to be academic leaders as well.

St. Isaac’s is located at 421 South Clay Street in
Hinsdale. Families interested in learning more about
