School Day Schedule, Attendance,
and General Rules
Students not taking the bus should arrive no earlier than 8:00 a.m. (when adult supervision is available).
The school schedule is:
8:10 a.m. Doors open.
8:20 a.m. Classes begin. (Students arriving after 8:20
must stop in the school office to obtain a tardy slip).
11:00 a.m. Morning kindergarten dismissed.
11:30 a.m. Lunch/recess begins for grades 1-4.
11:50 a.m. Afternoon kindergarten begins.
12 noon Lunch/recess ends for grades 1-4.
12:20 p.m.* Lunch/recess begins for grades 5-8.
12:50 p.m. Lunch/recess ends for grades 5-8.
2:30 p.m. All classes dismissed. (Students must depart
the school grounds promptly. No supervision is
provided after 2:40 p.m.)
* On days when Mass is scheduled, lunch begins at 12:35
Attendance
Punctuality and regular attendance are of prime importance at Saint Isaac Jogues. If a child will be absent, parents much contact the school office no later than 9 a.m. each day. When a child returns to school, he or she must bring a written note from the parent explaining the dates and reason for an absence.
Appointments with doctors or dentists should be made outside of school hours whenever possible. Absences due to non-emergencies, such as family trips, are discouraged.
Students are responsible for making up any missed school work.
General Rules
No food or snacks are to be eaten except at assigned lunch times (or with special permission).
Students should bring all necessary materials to class each day. Children are not permitted to call home for forgotten items.
Students wishing extra help can make arrangements with the teacher. They must not enter classrooms before or after school hours without explicit permission.
Hallway behavior must be orderly at all times; most especially, students must refrain from running in the stairwells or hallways.
Homework is due on dates assigned. Teachers have the discretion to make exceptions for special circumstances.
All adults at Saint Isaac Jogues including lunchroom or playground supervisors must be respected at all times.
All students should express themselves only in a normal tone of voice in school.
During recess or when outside, students should play only in the designated area in a friendly and inclusive manner. (Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.)
Students are expected to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the school and grounds. Students must not bring to school any unnecessary items or valuables, such as money, radios, CD players or cameras.
Students and their parents will be responsible for any damage to school property, equipment or materials. This includes books and supplies.
