Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Policy
Exemplary behavior at Saint Isaac Jogues School is so fundamental to our philosophy and goals, we devote a special section to this topic.
Our overriding priority is to provide children a safe,
nurturing environment in which to grow spiritually,
intellectually and emotionally. Respect for others,
good manners and a courteous demeanor are the
standard here.
Ethical and positive Christian behavior is expected at all times.
Saint Isaac Jogues’ code of conduct extends beyond
school hours and the school building itself. On field
trips, on the bus, at athletic or other events, every
student is an “ambassador” of this school. Thus we
insist on appropriate behavior anytime and anywhere
a child is identifiable as a Saint Isaac Jogues student.
By registering their children at Saint Isaac Jogues,
parents accept our code of conduct and disciplinary
policies, and they agree to help us foster in their
children a positive demeanor and strong sense of self-
discipline. At the start of each school year, parents
are asked to sign a form acknowledging receipt of
disciplinary policies outlined in the Parent-Student
Handbook.
Misconduct or infractions occurring in school, at
school activities, while riding the bus, or even outside
of school, can result in disciplinary actions ranging
from a reprimand or detention to loss of privileges,
suspension or even expulsion.
Saint Isaac Jogues Student Code of Conduct

Respect your classmates: treat everyone as you want
to be treated.
Respect your teachers and supervisors: follow
directions.
Respect your own property that of others.
Respect the rules: always conduct yourself in a way
that brings credit to you and your school.
Infractions and Consequences
Serious infractions are not only breaches of common
courtesy, but issues of student or school safety as well.
We cannot tolerate disruptive, damaging, dangerous
or violent behavior at Saint Isaac Jogues.
Some examples are:
Bullying or abusive behavior.
Fighting at the school.
Leaving the school grounds without permission.
Using foul language or gestures.
Disrespect for other students or school staff.
Possessing any type of weapon.
Academic dishonesty, lying, cheating, forging
documents or stealing.
Intentionally damaging school, church or private property.
Possession or use of alcohol, tobacco, drugs or drug
paraphernalia.
Non-violent infractions will result in a disciplinary
notice and possible detention. These include:
Using cell phones during the school day.
Bringing radios, music players or headsets to school
(except as needed for school projects).
Wearing clothing with obscenities, ethnic slurs or
references to drugs, alcohol, sex, gangs and the like.
Failure to serve detention.
Gambling.
Excessive tardiness.
Repeated uniform violations.
Any conduct that is unbecoming a Catholic child and a
Saint Isaac Jogues student.
The majority of disciplinary matters are handled
immediately by classroom teachers or staff. Generally
speaking, teachers and the administration have the
discretion to determine appropriate consequences
for inappropriate behavior.
Disciplinary procedures may include:
Verbal warning (public or private).
Removal or isolation from the class or activity.
A one-on-one conference with teacher or principal, or
informal conference with the parent..
Discipline notice.
Detention.
Loss of school or athletic privileges.
In-school or out-of-school suspension.
Expulsion (requiring consent of the pastor).
Discipline notices are sent home the same day with
the student. They must be signed by a parent and
brought back to school the next day.
Detention is after school hours, one day a week,
for an hour, during which a student is not permitted
to do school or personal work. Detention notices must
be signed by parents. (Parents are responsible for
transportation home.)
Multiple detentions will result in more stringent
disciplinary actions, including mandatory suspensions.
