Confirmation
At St Isaac Jogues Parish, most families celebrate Confirmation in eighth grade.
Families who have a child that is in a grade higher than eighth and who is interested in making his or her Confirmation are also welcome to bring him or her to preparation for this sacrament. The desire for such preparation and celebration can be expressed by contacting the Director of Religious Education.
Because all the families constitute one parish, the children of both the SIJ parochial school and the local public schools come together to participate in the sacramental celebration for Confirmation.
The Church must make every effort through a revised and revitalized catechesis to ensure that adolescents do not view their preparation for and reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation as the end of their formal catechesis. They must be encouraged to continue in catechetical programs, the celebration of Sunday Eucharist, and the practice of Christian living.
